When Eyes Confess

I watched you from across the room,
all evening every move.
The way you turned, the way you smiled,
the way you caught that groove.
I must have crossed that floor a hundred times,
at least inside my head.
But every time I took one step,
I heard my fear instead. "She's way out of your league.
What if she says no?"
So I kept my hands inside my pockets
and watched the whole night go.
While I stood there,
he walked right in.
